Vladimir I.  Ouchakof
Vladimir I. Ouchakof, of West Hartford, died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 23, 2015. Born in Berlin, Germany in 1923, son of Ivan and Eudoxie Ouchakof. Vladimir was married to Josephine (Machuca) for 57 years, who died in 2006. Vladimir spent his youth in France attending both French and Russian language schools. During WWII he was a member of the French Resistance. After the War, Vladimir emigrated to Puerto Rico where he met and married Josephine. They moved to the Bronx, Westchester County and Connecticut where they raised their children. He is survived by his children Oleg Ouchakof and his wife Michelle, Marie Ringquist and her husband David and Boris Ouchakof and his wife Marcia, grandchildren Michael Ouchakof (Cara Lacey), Kara Virello (Andrew), the Reverend Katya Ouchakof (Mike Krajewski), Mary Kok (Sam), Peter Ouchakof, Michael Dartt, Avery Ringquist, Lia Ringquist and great grandchildren Lorenzo Virello and Joseph Kok. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Schilling, of West Hartford. He was an industrial designer for Combustion Engineering for thirty five years. Vladimir's passion in later life was competitive swimming, which he took up at the age of 50. He competed on the local, national and international levels, winning numerous gold medals in American National Championships as well as Senior World Championships. He competed as recently as three months ago and attended a family reunion in Texas in June. Friends and family may call at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, New Britain Ave., West Hartford on Friday, August 28, 2015, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Friends are invited to a memorial service at the funeral home at 10 am on Saturday, August 29th, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford.
