Fond Memories

I have so, so many wonderful memories of spending special time with Joe and Dee. They had a unique way of making our Canadian family feel so welcomed and loved whenever we got together. Memorable golfing outings and sessions with our sons were continuously talked about at great length through the years and will be treasured forever by our guys. I cherished the infamous and hilarious trip to Cape Cod, wherein we met and made a lasting friendship with Lester the lobster. Joe introduced me to his world of opera when he took us to experience La Traviata, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. He delighted in my childlike enjoyment of the Peggy Flemming Ice Show in Connecticut and especially with its concluding song: Peg of My Heart.. I had naively thought that song was dedicated to me...Joey suggested to me: "Sweetheart....Peggy is the name of the star of the show." We howled with laughter all the way home that evening. I will remember and hold dear the many "loud" discussions, stories, wisdom and reminiscings through the years. Whenever I talked with Joe over the phone I usually concluded my phone calls with : "I love you, Joey.".... His response was a resounding: "I love you too, Sweetheart".... "May songs of the Angels welcome you and guide you along your way. May the smiles of the martyrs greet your own as darkness turns into day. Every fear will be undone and death will be no more, as songs of the Angels bring you home before the face of God. " Rest in peace, Joey....I love you "to the stars". !
