Obituary for Barbara Lynch (McCormick)

Barbara J. (McCormick) Lynch, 84, of West Hartford, CT, widow of the late Donald J. Lynch passed away Saturday ( April 19, 2014), at St. Mary Home. She was born March 15, 1930 in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late John P. McCormick and Doretta (Gabelein) McCormick. She graduated from Bulkeley High School, class of 1948. She was a faithful communicant of St. Mark the Evangelist Church in West Hartford, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer. She was also a long time volunteer at the UCONN Health Center in Farmington, and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Home.
She leaves her loving children, Patricia and Carey Quigley, Maureen and John Mitchell, John and Renee Lynch, James and Vickie Lynch, Agnes and Kurt Dickinson, Stephen Lynch, Mary Lynch, Michael Lynch and Rachael London; beloved grandchildren, Caitlin (Evan) Varipatis, Kellen and Timothy Quigley, Erin (Nathaniel) Shenton, and Patrick Mitchell, Allison, Sean, Abbey, Kelly and Barrett Lynch, Eileen and Kathleen Dickinson, and Brendan Durham; great grandchildren, Nathan, Emer and Annabeth. She also leaves a sister, Patricia McCormick, her brother-in-law, Joseph Lynch and his wife Dolores Lynch, and sister-in-law Jean Lynch. Barbara was predeceased by her brother, William McCormick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 24, 10am at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford. Burial at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 23 from 5-7pm. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or The Mercy Community, Development Office, 2021 Albany Ave., West Hartford, CT 06117. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at St. Mary Home for their care and kindness.
