Obituary for Wayne Alexander Scherban

Wayne Alexander Scherban of Ellington, died Sunday, Oct, 23, 2016 at Rockville General Hospital in Rockville. Born Oct. 23, 1946, in Hartford, he was the son of the late Alexander Scherban and Doris (Rubino) Scherban. He grew up in East Hartford where he attended elementary schools and the former George J. Penney High School. He worked at various jobs, including at Stop & Shop, before his retirement. He was a kind and caring man with a joyful laugh who loved following the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. Wayne is survived by his sister, Debra Scherban Dion and her husband, Michael Dion of Northampton, MA; nephew Jed Dion and his wife, Aliza Porth, and their two sons, Colin and Evan Dion, also of Northampton, MA; nephew Gregory Dion and his wife, Abby Dion, and their two children, Chase and Kendyl Dion of Appleton, WI; as well as his longtime friend Debbie Dufour of Manchester.
There will be a private burial in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT. Online
