Shirley “Teddy” Conklin, 86, of West Hartford, beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2013. Teddy was born on October 25, 1927 in Holyoke, MA as the eldest child of the late Yvette (Gelinas) and LeRoy Hanley. She was a graduate of Fitchburg State College and served as an elementary school teacher in the Newington school system at the Ruth Chaffee School for over 30 years before retiring. She was a lifelong NY Giant fan who loved to travel and was particularly fond of taking vacations with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son Bob Reale and his wife Kimberly of West Hartford; her daughter Elizabeth (Reale) Chappell and her husband David of Newington, and her daughter Joanne (Reale) Stoddard of East Hartford; her adored grandchildren Benjamin Stoddard, and Peter, Kellianne, and Carson Reale. Late in life she was blessed with three step-grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan and Kayla. She also leaves a nephew, Richard Hanley of Durham, his wife LuAnn and their son Douglas. She was predeceased by her brother and frequent traveling companion Charles Hanley and his wife Betty; her sister Beverly and her husband Dick Herman; her aunt and friend Lorraine Gelinas; and Teddy’s beloved late husband, Robert “Bob” Conklin.
