Obituary for Rose McCormack (Christsensen)

Rose McCormack (Christsensen)
Rose C. McCormack, 98, matriarch of the McCormack clan, died at home surrounded by her loving family on December 11, 2014. She was the widow of John J. McCormack and daughter of the late Andrew and Louise (Tisserand) Christensen. Born in Hartford, she attended St. Peter's School and graduated from Buckley High School Class of 1935A in Hartford. After raising her family, she worked for The Hartford in the Keyed Data Input Department retiring in 1982. Rose was a fantastic cook and amazing baker. A woman of great faith, she was always putting everyone’s needs before her own. When entering her home there was often the aroma of banana nut bread or some other goody baking in her oven for family and friends. Rose (lovingly known as “Grammy") was the glue that held her family together with her strong independent religious spirit, her compassion and warmth. In addition to caring for her family, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and traveling. In addition to her husband and parents, Rose was predeceased by her sons Michael (2001) and John (2004), daughter-in-law Nancy (2002), and brother Andrew Herbert Christensen (2010). She is survived by her daughter Gail, with whom she made her home. Rose also leaves her sister-in- law, Ruth Christensen, and daughters-in-law Gladys S. McCormack and Wanda Williams-McCormack. Rose will be missed by her precious grandchildren: John and Karra McCormack, Matthew and Jessica McCormack, Megan and Dan DeTuccio, and Kate and Sean Kilbride. Rose had tremendous love for her great grandchildren Grace, Sophia, Fiona, Brianna, Declan, and Ethan. Rose leaves many nieces and nephews throughout the country. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the VNA Home Care especially Diane, Mary, and Grace for their gentle and loving care through her illness. A funeral mass will be celebrated at The Church of the Holy Spirit,183 Church Street Newington, CT on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:30 am. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Rose will be buried at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill next to her husband John. Memorial donations to the Hartford HealthCare at Home 1290 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 4B Wethersfield, CT 06109 would be greatly appreciated.
