Obituary for Richard J. McIlroy

Richard J. McIlroy, 71, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2014. Born in Hartford, son of the late John H. and Mary (Alexson) McIlroy, he had lived in West Hartford most of his life. Prior to his retirement he was employed at McCormick, Paulding and Huber for many years. Richard was an avid gardener and artist. He is survived by two sisters, Susan Killoran of West Hartford and Judith Killoran and her husband Joseph of West Hartford. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces, Daniel, Andrew, Meaghan, Beth, Heather, William and Mary Jane and many great-nephews and great-nieces. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law Daniel Killoran. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, (Jan.3), at 11:00 am at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
