Obituary for Ralph F. Macri Jr.

Ralph F.  Macri Jr.
Ralph F. Macri, Jr., 88, of West Hartford, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Hughes Health & Rehabilitation. He was the son of the late Ralph Macri, Sr. and the late Mary Loprete Macri. Ralph is survived by his wife Beatrice Macri of West Hartford; his son Fred Macri of Los Angeles, CA; his daughter Monica Macri Marino and her husband Bob Marino of Forest Hills, NY; his sister Jean Macri of New Britain, and his two grandchildren, Lucia and Adrian Marino. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Macri. Born on April 1, 1927, Ralph was raised on Front Street in Hartford, attended local public schools and was a volunteer usher at The Bushnell. He served in the U.S. Navy and studied at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating from the University of Hartford with high honors in mechanical engineering. Ralph worked as a mechanical engineer at both United Technologies Corporation’s Pratt & Whitney and the former Turbo Power & Marine Systems Inc., for over 35 years, designing aircraft engines and generators. He was also a talented lifetime photography hobbyist and an active member of the Church of Saint Peter Claver for over 40 years. A mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, (March 3), at the Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant St. in West Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to St. Elizabeth House, 118 Main Street, Hartford, CT, 06106(www.mercyhousingct.org).
