Obituary for Michael Joseph Maulucci

Michael Joseph Maulucci
Michael Joseph Maulucci, Sr., 89, of West Hartford, CT, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the eldest child of Joseph and Mary (Lodovico) Maulucci. Mike graduated from Weaver High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 159th Air Commando Squadron, a liaison squadron in World War II stationed in the South Pacific that was responsible for rescuing wounded soldiers from combat areas. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he began a career at Veeder-Root and was employed there until his retirement in 1990. He leaves behind his beloved Anita (Zaino) Maulucci, his wife of 62 years. He is also survived by his son, Michael J. Maulucci, Jr. and his wife Laurie as well as his two grandsons, Alexander Maulucci and his wife Laura and Matthew Maulucci, all of Avon, CT. He was pre-deceased by his brother Joseph Maulucci, his sister Roseanna Saccoccia, and his grandson Christopher Maulucci. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was loved deeply and will be missed dearly. He had a profound appreciation for both automobiles and golf, passions that he imparted to his son. He was known for perfect attendance at not only his son’s sporting events, but also his practice sessions. That devotion continued with his grandsons’ sporting competitions as well. He held memberships at Pequabuck Golf Club and later Rockledge Golf Club, but was never happier than when playing 18 holes with his son at the Golf Club of Avon. He described that for him as being just one step from heaven. His only unhappiness in life stemmed from any NY Yankees loss. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association http://www.alz.org/ct. His family will receive friends and relatives from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, July 24 at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, July 25 at the Church of St. Brigid, 1088 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT. Burial services will be private.
