Obituary for Mary Pane (Sharkevich)

Mary (Sharkevich) Pane, 95, of Simsbury, formerly of Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Claudio M. Pane, Sr., died Friday, March 28, 2014. She was born in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Steven and Catherine (Senyk) Sharkevich. Mary was an excellent seamstress, working from home for many years making clothes for people before going to work for the G. Fox & Co. and Sage Allen department stores. Mary was the definition and embodiment of the word Mother. She was an extraordinarily loving, devoted and proud wife, mother, and grandmother. Her door and heart were always open to her family, children, and strays of both the two and four-legged variety. She was happiest with a house full of kids and loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Mary was always there to provide sage advice, to listen and not judge. She was an amazing cook and gardener, a virtual baby-whisperer and loved the occasional trip to the casino. She was the strength of her family and her absence will forever be missed.
She is survived by her son, Claudio M. Pane, Jr. and his wife, Lynn Pane of West Hartford; three daughters, Patricia Holder of Port Townsend, WA., Carol Bermudez of Canton and Claudia Boudreau of Wethersfield; son-in-law Brian Mahon of New Britain; two sister-in-laws, Sophie Sharkevich of Wethersfield and Rose Pane of Ormond Beach, FL; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Anne D'Engenis; three brothers, Michael Sharkevich, Paul Sharkevich and Edward Sharkevich; a son Richard Pane; a daughter Janice Pane; two son-in-laws Ralph Bermudez and Gary Boudreau, and two granddaughters, Jennifer Mahon and Jennifer Holder. Calling hours will be on Saturday, April 5, at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
