Mrs. Mary (Riese) Ferguson, 105, of 156 Mayflower Street, West Hartford, passed away peacefully in the comforts of her home on October 31, 2014 surrounded by her loving family and under the loving care of her caregiver Hazel.

Mary was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 17, 1909, she is the daughter of the late Euphemia (Harley) Riese and George W. Riese. Mary was predeceased by her husband Alexander W. Ferguson with whom she was married to for 44 years. Mary has been a resident of West Hartford since 1948. She was an avid dog lover who had a passion for traveling. During her years at Aetna, she was involved in many company activities including a club called the 39ers who traveled all over the world. After her retirement from Aetna, she also worked part time at Robinson & Cole until the age of 80.

Mary is survived by her beloved son George Ferguson of East Hartford and dear friend Debra. George did anything for “The Great One”. Mary’s famous phrase for her son was, “George will do it.” Mary also leaves three grandchildren, Shana Belmont and her husband Ryan of Glastonbury, Ashlee Cavallo and her husband Michael of Glastonbury, Royce Ferguson of East Hartford , three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Ava and Stella Belmont, and her great nephew Andrew Huston of Glen Gardner, NJ.

Mary enjoyed a very long life full of friends and family and she will be missed dearly.
Calling hours will be from 5PM-7PM on Thursday, November 6, at Sheehan – Hilborn – Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM, Friday, November 7 at the Church of Saint Brigid, 1088 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Burial is at the discretion of the family.
