Martha  Krawshuk (Quagliano)
Martha Q. (Quagliano/Quinlan) Krawshuk, 78, of West Hartford, passed away after losing her 15 month battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Martha was a loving wife, and wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born in Hartford, CT on October 8, 1933, the daughter of the late Michael and Rosalie Sipala Quagliano, and the granddaughter of John and Martha Quagliano and Santo and Maria Sipala.
Martha leaves the love of her life, John, her husband of 57 years, as well as her three adoring sons, John, Martin and Michael. Michael and his wife Kimberly, have two children, Ashley and Nate, who were the light of Martha’s life and her greatest joy.
She leaves a brother John Qualiano, his wife Lois, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A sister, Mary Quagliano Tirabassi predeceased her.
Martha was a devoted member of St. Timothy’s Parish for over 50 years, serving on its Women’s Club and as a Eucharistic Minister as part of its Pastoral Care Team.
Prior to retirement in 2003, Martha worked in the office of Dr. Neil Stein for eleven years. She also served as a volunteer at Mercyknoll, a retirement home for the Sisters of Mercy Nuns.
Martha was an active member of the Weaver Class of 1951 Reunion Committee, helping to plan several reunions. She also served as treasurer of the Northenders Committee.
Calling hours are Thursday (Sept. 27) from 5-8 pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. Her funeral is Friday 9:00 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford.
