Madeleine Augustine Kinel departed from this world on Sept. 25, 2012 to join her husband, Stanley in the next. Her passing ended a multiple-year battle with Alzheimer’s and cancer. She was one of 12 living children born to Adele (Marcoux) and Henry Gosselin in 1925. Moving from Black Lake, Quebec, Canada to the U.S. at the age of 3, she became a naturalized citizen in 1954. She is predeceased by siblings, Br. Simeon (Leo),Beatrice Bertrand, Maurice Gosselin, Roger Gosselin, Germaine Bendzinski, Paul Gosselin and Pauline Griffin. She is also survived by Marie Barrieau of West Hartford,, Joseph Gosselin of Somers, Gerald Gosselin of Glastonbury and Andre Gosselin of West Hartford. Madeleine married Stanley J. Kinel in 1949 and resided in the Parkville section of Hartford until his passing in 1981. She leaves the 3 children of their union; Bruce A. Kinel of East Hartford, Janice K. Dennis of Portland and George J. Kinel of Needham, MA; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She then resided with the family of Marie Barrieau, her beloved sister until entering the Memory Care unit of Mount Laurel Senior Community in Glastonbury, where she passed. Calling hours are Friday (Sept. 28) from 5-8 pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. Her funeral is Saturday 9:00 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 79 New Park Avenue, Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
