It is with great sadness at the loss of our wonderful, funny, caring , son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Joseph P. Mazza, Jr., who passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. He was born in New Rochelle, NY, son of the late Joseph P. Mazza, Sr., and Helen (Murray) Mazza on August 7, 1925. He served in the Army during WWII, in the Battery "A", 290th Field Artillery Observation Battalion in the Battle of the Bulge. In 1956, Joe married the love of his life, Marie (Deckelman) Mazza, to whom he was married to for 27 years, until her passing in 1983. He was employed as an electrician for 30 years for the West Hartford School System. Joe leaves his daughter Patricia Mazza Cavallaro and her husband, David and his grandson, Colin P. Keene. Joe also leaves three sisters, Evelyn Lathrop, Dorothy Czarnecki and Edith Guerrera and many nieces and nephews. Special love and thanks to Rose, Lourdes and Melissa from Newington RRR Center. A most special salute and love to Mike Menta, military brother and veteran volunteer. A Graveside Funeral Service with military honors will be on Wednesday, (October 21), 11:00 am in Fairview Cemetery (section 13-V), West Hartford. All will meet at the Cemetery. The Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, West Hartford has care of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Protectors of Animals, " POA", 144 Main Street, Unit O, East Hartford, CT 06118 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
