Obituary for John Alexander Wall

John Alexander Wall
John Alexander Wall of West Hartford, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 with his wife and daughter at his side. He was 66 years old. John was the son of John S. and Julia (Navickis) Wall, born March 30, 1946. He grew up on Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury, and graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1964. John served in the U.S. Army for three years, from 1964 to 1967, stationed primarily in Wurzburg, Germany. John utilized his extensive knowledge of production processes and quality control of aircraft engine overhaul and repair. He had worked as a sales representative for Windsor Airmotive in East Granby, a division of the Barnes Group from 1981 until his disability retirement in 2010. John (Johnny to his family and friends) was a dedicated fan of the San Francisco Giants and the New England Patriots. Most of all he enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing. Some of the happiest moments of his life were spent at his summer home at East Sandwich Beach on Cape Cod. John leaves his wife, Jane Conlon Wall, with whom he shared 35 years of his life, and his heart’s delight, his darling daughter Caitlin M. Wall. John also leaves his sister Janice and her husband Thomas Elliott of South Carolina, and their children Sandra (Kevin) Lombard, Gary Elliott and Sheri (Brian) Baczanski and their five grandchildren. John also leaves his brother Donald and his wife Patricia Dunkle Wall of East Hartford, their sons Scott (Amy) Wall and Mark (Lilia) Wall, and their three grandsons. He also leaves his cousins in the Navickis and Kuchis families. John will be fondly remembered by Jane’s sisters Kathryn Conlon, Mary Conlon and Patricia Plitt, her brothers Thomas Conlon and Patrick (Lois) Conlon, and sister-in-law Martha Conlon, as well as by Jane’s extended Merrick and Conlon families. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by a very special uncle, William (Willie) Wall, his beloved uncle and godfather Alec Navickis and his wife Patricia, and his dear cousin Laraine Kuchis. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law Lou Conlon, with whom he shared a very close bond, his mother-in law Jane (Merrick) Conlon, and brother-in-law Ben Conlon. Jane and Caitlin wish to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Robert Siegel and his staff at the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center. We thank the many friends, neighbors, and coworkers who supported John and us during this long and difficult time. John was a fine man, and we are so thankful to have had him in our lives. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of John’s life will be held at the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 N. Main St. West Hartford 06117, at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 2, 2012, with a repast immediately following at a nearby restaurant. We suggest a donation to Disabled American Veterans or a favorite charity in lieu of flowers. Burial will be private at a later date.
