Obituary for John J. Manfredi

John J.  Manfredi
John J. Manfredi, 84, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford on Monday, October 1, 2012. Born on January 18, 1928 in Waterbury, he was the son of John B. and Rose (O’Hara) Manfredi. He is survived by his wife Joan (Coleman) of 64 years and his daughter: Janice Manfredi and her husband Paul Pennini of Newburyport, MA; his daughter Joyce Cowles and her husband Timothy Cowles of Farmington; his grandsons Gordon H. Breidenbach and Tyler S. Cowles; his sister Shirley Lemay of Nanuet, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister Barbara Stoveken and infant granddaughter Ashley Cowles.

He graduated Sacred Heart Grammar School and High School in Waterbury and attended Bryant College in Providence, RI after which he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Hawaii and Guam.

John was the Regional Manager for Motorola C&E, Inc. for over 25 years working with state and local government earning a reputation with his peers as “Mr. Motorola” for his dedication and commitment to his work. He was a member of the Galvin Masters and served as President of this prestigious organization. He was a member and long time supporter of the Connecticut Law Enforcement Memorial honoring fallen police officers across the state.

John retired in 1990 and looked forward to vacationing with his family on Cape Cod, traveling and spending time with friends; listening to good music and enjoying good food.

Funeral procession will be Friday, October 5, at 9:00 a.m. from the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home at 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:00 a.m in St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Family and friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
