Helena Costa Augusto
Helena M. (Costa) Augusto, 53, of West Hartford, beloved wife of Joao Carlos Augusto (34 yrs) passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2015. Helena was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, daughter of Maria Esmeralda (Coelho) Costa and the late Jose Da Costa. Helena was predeceased by her brother, Robert A. Costa. She sacrificed so much for her family and immigrated to America in 1987 where she worked hard and achieved her American Dream. Helena had a long successful career with Data-Mail in Newington, a member of the Holy Ghost Portuguese Society, East Hartford and the Portuguese Club of Hartford, Newington, where you could often find her dancing with her husband, surrounded by family and friends. Known for her amazing “sopas” and other delicious dishes, Helena loved to feed everyone. A truly generous woman, she was always eager to help others. Although a short life, hers was one full of adventure and love. Besides her mother and her husband, Helena is survived by her son, Helvidio Augusto (his wife Melissa) of Stafford, her daughter, Carla Augusto of Manchester, and three grandchildren, Wyatt, Callie and Zander, whom were the light of her life; four brothers, Jose Maria Costa of Somerset, MA, Eduardo Costa of Newington, Duarte Costa of Rocky Hill, Carlos Alberto Costa of Manchester; three sisters, Maria Fatima Ferreira of Hartford, Maria Eduarda Costa of West Hartford, and Maria Cidalia Vasconcelos of Fall River, MA, and 14 nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 12 at 11:00 a.m. at West Meadow Cemetery, Willard Ave, Newington. Relatives and friends may call at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford on Wednesday, February 11 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Helena's name may be made to the Newington Humane Society in honor of Helena’s love for her grand-pets, Sylvester, Charli & Peanut.
