Helen Mae (Cooley) Calabrese, 92, of Newington, died December 21, 2012. Born in Manchester on December 21, 1920, she married the love of her life the late Andrew P. Calabrese in 1942 and was married for 59 years. Helen is survived by her two children, a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and John Vigeant of Charlotte, NC and a son and daughter-in-law, Paul Calabrese and Lucretia Tyler of Newington. She is also survived by her five grandchildren; Michele Almarode and her husband Jeremy, Alicia Blanco and her husband Michael, Heather Kidd and her husband Tim, Robin Foley and Jim Gilbert, Kelli Varano and her husband Darren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister Edith Ruggerio. Helen was a devoted mother and grandmother, everyone who knew her loved her including the caregivers at the Newington Healthcare Center. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Dec. 26, from 10:00 am till noon at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 following the calling hours. Burial will be private.
