Gracinda de Jesus Oliveira
Gracinda de Jesus Oliveira, 90, of East Hartford, beloved wife of Antonio J. Oliveira, passed away peacefully at home, after a short illness on Thursday, July 3, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Murtosa, Portugal on January 25, 1924, daughter of António and Ana Reverendo. She moved to the United States in 1967 and worked for DiNinni Bros., LLC, retiring in 1986. Besides her husband of almost 68 years, Gracinda is survived by son Antonio Oliveira and his wife Ausenda of Vernon, son Manuel Oliveira and his wife Maria Rosa of East Hartford, and daughter Maria Julia and her husband Manuel Milheiro of East Hartford; grandchildren Victor, Daniel, Margaret, Jennifer, Paulo and Marco; and great-grandchildren Katarina, Madeline, Logan, Rachel, Willow, Grace, Noah and Juliana. She is survived by her brother Antonio Reverendo and his wife Rosa and her sister-in-law Maria Reverendo, and was predeceased by her brothers Adelino and Joseph Reverendo and her sister Albina Terra. Gracinda also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families in Portugal and the United States. The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff of Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice, relatives and friends for the care, love and support they provided in her final days. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 9, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home on 1084 New Britain Ave. in West Hartford. The funeral procession will begin at 10:30 AM and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Hartford. At Gracinda’s request the burial will be at the Cemitério da Murtosa, Portugal. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the memory of Gracinda Oliveira may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Community Center, 50 Kane Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
