Obituary for Frederick C. "Fred" Pond

Frederick C. Pond, 94, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Joy (Holman) Pond died Monday, November 24, 2014 at home. Born in Hartford, he grew up in West Hartford and lived in Glastonbury for 28 years. Fred was a WWII Army Veteran and was employed as a Stock Broker for ADVEST. He was an avid sports fan, and played tennis at Elizabeth Park. He also volunteered at The American Lung Association in East Hartford for over 20 years. Besides his wife, Fred leaves three sons and two daughters in-law; Douglas Reed Pond and his wife Sharon of Chesapeake, VA; David Holman Pond and his wife Sandra of South Glastonbury; and Richard Church Pond and his partner Lynn Schork of West Hartford; eight grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. The Memorial Service will be on Thursday, (December 4), at 11:00 am at St. John Episcopal Church, 679 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Burial will be Private. Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
