Obituary for Eileen Foley (Nolan)

Eileen (Nolan) Foley of West Hartford, widow of John T. Foley, died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 29, 2014. She was born in Somerset, Massachusetts on June 9, 1921, the daughter of the late J.W. Nolan and Julia (O’Connell) Nolan. She received a bachelors degree from Bridgewater State College in 1943 and a masters in education from University of Hartford in 1965. She is survived by her dear daughter Anne and son-in-law Thomas Farrell of West Hartford. She also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews and two step-grandchildren, Sam and Rose Farrell. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Margaret and Elizabeth, and her brothers John and James. She has lived in the Hartford area for 68 years. She was a retired teacher from the Hartford school system, a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford, West Hartford Suburban Women’s Club, the West Hartford Belles, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, and a former member of the West Farms Ladies golf group. She leaves many good and dear friends. Funeral procession will be on Thursday, April 3, 9:15 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian, 10 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 2, from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Donations may be made to St. Mark the Evangelist Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
