Obituary for Dorothy May Souza

Dorothy May Souza,91, was born on Oct. 16,1923 in Fall River, MA. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Dennis and Maria Amaral, and wife of the late John Souza. She passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at UConn Medical Center in Farmington. Dorothy died from complications of pneumonia. John and Dorothy were married in Fall River, MA. After returning from service in the Army, Dorothy and John started their family and then relocated to West Hartford. Dorothy and John made a wonderful home for their 6 children; Greg of Wisconsin, Jeff of Maine, Steve of CT, Darlene of Oregon, Lori of CT and John of CT. Dorothy worked as a seamstress while John was in the war. Dorothy was an excellent mom, cook and gardener. Dorothy loved her family dearly and was a caregiver for many of her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Dorothy and John were long time members of St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. Calling hours are from 8:00am to 9:00am on Saturday, (July 19) at Sheehan- Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Funeral Service will follow at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, CT.
