Obituary for Diane M. Oberg (Bonelli)

Diane M.  Oberg (Bonelli)
Diane Marie (Bonelli) Oberg, 63, of East Hartford passed away on June, 2, 2012 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Francis and Ann Bonelli.

She is survived by her husband Leonard Oberg, her brother Thomas Bonelli and his wife Mary Ellen, and a nephew, Anthony Bonelli of Wethersfield. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Dorothy Oberg of Groton, CT. She was predeceased by her parents and her father-in-law Albert W. Oberg.

Upon graduating from Conard High School she received a degree in Medical Assisting from the Career Academy in New York and was employed by several doctors in the Hartford area. She was subsequently employed by the Hartford Visiting Nurses Association as the manager for the Friendly Visitor program and Meals on Wheels and took pride in helping to brighten the lives of those individuals who she came in contact with.

Those who knew Diane will always remember her caring ways and the way she touched other people’s lives. She enjoyed traveling and she and her husband were frequent visitors to Boston. She had also traveled to Spain and North Africa.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Saint Francis Cancer Center, Masonicare Partners and the staff on the Oncology floor at the hospital for the care and service they provided.

Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 7 at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home on New Britain Avenue in West Hartford. A memorial service will be held immediately following visiting hours. Burial services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to either Masonicare Partners of Connecticut, 111Founders Plaza, Suite 200, East Hartford, CT 06108 or the Saint Francis Cancer Center, 114 Woodland Street, Hartford 06105.
