Obituary for David R. Lutz

David R.  Lutz
Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, David R. Lutz, 86, of West Hartford passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 1, 2016. He was the husband of Joanne Lutz for 49 years.
David proudly served in the USAF during the Korean War. He joined the Hartford Police Department and retired as a Sergeant after 26 years of service. He also worked for the Post Office for 12 years.
David enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially visiting with family in Maine. They were both enthusiastic fans of the UCONN girls basketball team. Throughout his later years, his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren grow up and attending their many activities. David was also an active member of the American Legion Post 96, Police Benevolent Association, Hartford Police Veterans Association and the Hartford Police Retired Breakfast Club. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters Shelia, Tracey (Joe), Denise (Tom), his eight grandchildren, his brother Andrew and close family; Michael and Bonny, Elaine, Richard and Pat and Marge. He is predeceased by his parents Andrew and Mary Lutz and his son John Andrew. Calling hours are Monday, June 6th, from 4-7pm at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave West Hartford, CT A Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 7th, 10am at St Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave West Hartford, CT, please meet at the Church.
