Charles "Charlie" Burleigh Dunn, 85, of Newington, beloved husband of Evelyn (Prentiss) Dunn, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2015. Charlie was born on October 27, 1930 in Burke, VT, son of the late Burleigh Hiram Dunn and Hildreth (Waldo) Dunn and has lived in Newington most of his life. He worked as a computer technician at Combustion Engineering, Inc. for 23 years. He was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army. Charlie enjoyed his dog "Toto", western movies on TV, especially Gunsmoke and John Wayne and reading. Besides his loving wife of 50 years, he is survived by his beloved children, Linda Rossignol and her husband Paul of North Carolina, Judy Ahern and her husband Dennis of Newington, Sally Hirth and her husband Dennis of North Carolina, Donald Brown of Virginia, Steven Dunn of New Britain; 14 grandchildren, Robert, Cailene, and Jaime Brown all of East Hartford, David Brown of Newington, Christopher Ahern of Maine, Travis Ahern of Newington, Allen Rossignol of New York, Gary Rossignol of Newington, Jennifer Coogan of Washington, Jason Hirth and Kimberly Starkey of East Hartford, Leeanna Brown of Virginia, and Shane and Christian Thomas of New Britain; eight great-grandchildren, Cole and Gaetano Ahern, A.J., Nate, Zack and Colin Rossignol, Blake and Conner Baverstock; many nieces, nephews, cousins and Mariann Brown, who he thought a lot of because she cared about him so much. Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his sister, Shirley MacKeen; his three brothers, Phillip, Francis and Lawrence Dunn and his best friend of many years, Roland. The family would like to thank West Hartford Health and Rehab Center for taking excellent care of Charlie while he was there. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, (Dec. 17) from 5 - 7 pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. The Funeral Service will be Friday, (Dec.18), at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
