Obituary for Catherine "Kay" Grzesiuk (Fitzgibbon)

Catherine (Fitzgibbon) Grzesiuk, of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Matthew M. Grzesiuk, passed away on June 24, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late David J. and Anna (McSweeney) Fitzgibbon, she resided in West Hartford for over 50 years. Catherine was a devout member of St. Mark the Evangelist Church. Kay was employed at the Travelers Insurance Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1992. She is survived by three sons, Matthew and his wife Linda Grzesiuk of North Brookfield, MA; John and his wife Rita Grzesiuk of Rocky Hill; William and his wife Patricia Grzesiuk of West Simsbury; three daughters, Kathleen Mason of Sturbridge, MA; Ann and her husband Kenneth Bach of West Hartford; and Nancy Grzesiuk of West Hartford; twelve grandchildren, Richard and his wife Grace, Steven and his wife Joni, and Gregory Mason; Kelly Brooks and her husband Michael, Mark Grzesiuk and his wife Danielle; Kate Grzesiuk and her husband Conor Sheehan, Nicole Grzesiuk; Michelle Bach; Jillian, Brian, Caitlin, Courtney Grzesiuk; five great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Liam, Ethan Mason; Kayden, Mason Brooks; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Mary F. Breen; two brothers, Joseph and David Fitzgibbon; and son-in-law William Mason. Funeral procession will be Saturday, June 28, at 9:15 AM from The Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford, CT 06110. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Friday, June 27, from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Catherine's family would like to thank the staff at The Hebrew Health Hospice.
