Carol (Grogan) Abbruzzese, 75, wife of the late John “Jack” Abbruzzese, Sr. and longtime resident of Newington died Sunday, May 3, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Carol was born November 30, 1939, in Hartford, the daughter of the late John F. and Mary (Guthrie) Grogan. She was a graduate of Hartford High School where she met her soul-mate. Carol and Jack raised their family in Newington and were married for 44 years before his death in 2003. Carol was a long time communicant of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington and found unwavering strength and courage in her deep faith. She found true joy in celebrating special events and vacations with family, quiet days spent at the shore, shared moments with grandchildren and making a wonderful home for her husband and children. Her family will cherish and celebrate those memories forever. “The fact that you’re no longer here will always cause us pain, but you’re forever in our hearts, until we meet again.” She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John P. "J.P." Abbruzzese, Jr. and his wife, Jean of South Windsor; four daughters, Ann Marie Abbruzzese of Chicago, IL, Karen Abbruzzese of Raleigh, NC, Pamela Abbruzzese-Rosa and her husband, John of South Windsor, Erin Carducci and her husband, Aldo of Glastonbury; eight grandchildren who will miss their grandma dearly; Taylor and Alexandra Bethea, Sean and Hanna Abbruzzese, Samantha Rosa and Brendan, Grace and Jack Carducci; many relatives and special friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara (Grogan) Roya. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday (May 6), in the Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church St., Newington. Everyone is requested to meet at Church.
