Obituary for Barbara Pinto (Coelho)

Barbara Pinto (Coelho)
Barbara Coelho Pinto, 91, wife of Silvino Pinto died Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Barbara was born in Serraquinhos, Tras-os-Montes, Portugal but ultimately settled down in Hartford’s West End in 1954. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, Maria Moutinho and husband Laurentino, Diane Rua and husband Domingos; four grandchildren, Jim Moutinho and wife Sandra, Suzanne Moutinho, Barbara Rua and husband Nicholas Busse, and Stephanie Rua; and two twin great grandchildren, Gavin and Sophia Moutinho. Barbara is survived by her sisters Emilia Martins, New York and Precinda Pinto, Portugal. She was predeceased by sisters Carnelinda Gomes, Portugal and Alice Machado, Hartford and brother, Jose Coelho, Hartford. Barbara, a dedicated wife, mother, sister and grandmother inspired her friends and family with her work ethic, drive, and commitment to God that allowed her to start a successful new life in the United States. Despite all the hard work required to do this, she was never too tired to host a family member or friend that might stop by unannounced. Her door was always open and a meal or her delicious marble cakes were seemingly always ready. During retirement Barbara spent time pursuing the things she loved, looking after grandchildren, traveling with her family, crocheting, gardening, sharing great stories, her commitment to church, and most of all, bringing together her family in her home. Barbara was selfless, full of kindness and generosity throughout her life and in every occasion. Her memory and impact on everyone she touched will forever be in their hearts. Calling hours will be held at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, on Monday, March 30th, from 9:00 am – 10:30 am to be immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Fatima, 50 Kane Street, Hartford, at 11:00am.
