Obituary for Barbara Ellen Mullen (Ziff)

Barbara Mullen, 75, of West Hartford, passed away on July 18, 2014. Barbara was the loving mother of her children Kristen Hart and her husband Julio Ortiz, Nick Hart and his wife Susan, and Brian Hart. She was a proud and devoted grandmother (Gayba) to Julia Ortiz, Lauren Hart and Jordan Hart. She shared a profound life long bond with her siblings Constance May, Richard Ziff, and Robert Ziff. She also leaves her feline friends Mikey and Freshington. She was a loyal and dedicated member of the Universalist Church of West Hartford and spent countless hours volunteering through their various programs to assist those undergoing difficult times and was a strong advocate for the underdogs in life. She had a large circle of friends with whom she shared deep and caring relationships. She will be truly missed by all. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 22, from 4 to 7 pm at Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 10 am at the Universalist Church, 433 Fern St., West Hartford. Donations in Barbara's memory can be made to Protectors of Animals, 144 Main St., East Hartford, CT. 06118.
