Annette (Foligno) Matera,85, of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Thomas Matera to whom she was devoted, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. Born in New Britain, daughter of the late Nick and Lucy (Giannini) Foligno and had lived in West Hartford over 40 years. Annette worked as a hairdresser at La Femme Coiffures for many years. Annette was happiest spending time with her family, especially the children. Her smile was infectious and she always made everyone feel loved. She was a special lady! She is survived by a brother and three sisters-in-law, Tom and Jean Foligno of Southington, Mary DiMinno of Newington and Josie Foligno of Bristol. Annette is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews; 26 great-nieces and nephew and several great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters. The family would like to thank the staff at Emeritus of Rocky Hill for their compassionate care. Funeral procession will be 9:15 am Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of St. Helena, Echo Lane., West Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Monday, August 18, from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106.
