Ann (Angus) McCue, 93, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2014, surrounded by family. After graduating from Hall High in 1938, she worked as a Personnel Manager at Wise Smith Department Store. Ann was most known for her dedicated service to Saint Brigid Church as Secretary for 26 years, retiring at age 80. She was a Charter Member of the Democratic Women’s Club and was awarded South End Democrat of the Year in April 2001. She served her community at the West Hartford Polls for 55 years, retiring as moderator at age 89. She was a member and past President of the Ladies Guild of St. Brigid, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Francis Hospital, and a recipient of the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation awarded by Archbishop Mansel. She loved dancing, cheering for U-Conn, and playing cards, but her smile shined brightest when surrounded by family. She could often be heard saying, “Everything in moderation except laughter!” Ann leaves her sons, John McCue, Jr. and his wife Lorraine of Ft. Bragg, CA, Brian McCue and his wife Maureen of So. Glastonbury; a daughter Janice Mobsby and her husband Bruce of Derry, NH; grandchildren, Todd McCue of Kenwood, CA, Jennifer Mobsby, Michelle Mobsby and fiancé Andrew Brauch of Penacook, NH, Sarah Mobsby of Portland, ME, Megan McCue of Hartford, and John McCue of Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband John McCue, Sr., and her brothers, Harry, Robert, Bill and John Angus, and sisters, Elizabeth Fennelly, Sarah Janzow, and Helen Pariseault, and her parents Mary Kissane and Harry Harper Angus. Ann’s family is grateful to the Hartford Hospital staff and their hospice team for their compassion and support. Funeral procession will be Thursday, (Feb.27) 9:30 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am in St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Calling hours will be Wednesday, (Feb 26) from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Brigid School, 100 Mayflower St., West Hartford, CT 06110.
