Ann Terese (Morello) Matassa, age 83, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of West Hartford, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the McGraw Hospice Center in Jacksonville,Fl, surrounded by her family. She was born October 9, 1928 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Nicholas, Sr. and Mary (Petrizzo) Morello. On September 30, 1950 she married Anthony Matassa at St. Luke Parish in Hartford. They were married 52 years before his passing on August 25, 2003.
Ann was a paraprofessional in the West Hartford School System then worked at the Hartford Housing Authority from where she retired. She loved music, dancing, traveling, and was an avid golfer. She was a member of many clubs including, Wednesday 9-Hole Golf League, Young Italian American Association Women’s Club, St. Agnes Guild, and the Business and Professional Women’s Club.
She is survived by her daughters Suzanne Matassa (Christine Gannon) of West Hartford, Lisa (Matassa) McKeown (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Brett McKeown of West Hartford, and Elizabeth (McKeown) Domingo (Edmun) of Jacksonville, FL; two great grandchildren, Anthony McKeown of West Hartford and Sophie Ann Domingo of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Kathryn Ann Conforto of Westbrook and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Philamina Langhans, Rosemary Hedges, and Dolores Morello; and three brothers, Anthony Morello, Joseph Morello, and Nicholas Morello, Jr.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who dedicated her life to her husband and family as well as her commitment to her faith and daily prayers.
