Obituary for Andrew Scott Higgins


Andrew Scott Higgins, beloved husband of Lois (Bull) Higgins died Friday June 8, 2012. Born in Hartford, he was raised in Scotland and lived in the Hartford area most of his adult life. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Andrew retired from the Hebrew Home and Hospital, West Hartford. He was a Deacon at the South Congregational Church, Hartford and was an officer at the Norden Lodge #1, Vasa Order of America. He also was a member of the Svea Dancers.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Scott Higgins and his wife Sharon of Ellington and Matthew Higgins of West Hartford; a daughter Elizabeth Higgins of Georgia; a daughter-in-law Maria Teresa Higgins of West Hartford; six grandchildren, Delores, Magen, Wayne, Jennifer, Andrew and William and 11 great-grandchildren, Liam, Oliver, Eliott, Richard, Zachary, Katlynn, Chloey, Wayne, Alexis, Brooklyn and Ashton. He was predeceased by a son Thomas J. Higgins and a granddaughter Lois M. Higgins.
Calling hours will be Thursday, (June 14) from 5-8 pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. The Funeral Service will be Friday (June 15) at 10:00am at the South Congregational Church, 277 Main St. Hartford. Burial with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
