Obituary for Alice M. Stanicak

Alice M. Stanicak, 93, of Newington and formerly of Elmwood, died Thursday, April 9, 2015. Born in Croatia, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Katherine B. (Markesic) Stanicak and had lived in Elmwood many years before moving to Newington. Alice was employed as an administrative assistant at both the CT General Insurance Co. and at the CT Mutual Insurance Co., prior to her retirement and was a communicant of St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Michael A. and Theresa Stanicak of New Hartford; a nephew, Michael A. Stanicak, Jr. and his wife Jacklyn Reid of New Hartford and many relatives in Australia, Canada and Croatia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, (April 14), 10:00 am, at St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hour will be from 8:30 to 9:30 am prior to the funeral at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Newington Rapid Recovery Rehab Center c/o Recreation Dept., 240 Church St., Newington, CT. 06111, checks made payable to the Eagle Lake Foundation Inc.
