Obituary for Arthur John Burkard

Arthur John Burkard, 78, of West Hartford beloved husband of Mary Ann (Garaventa) Burkard; passed away on March 7, 2016. Arthur was born on June 26, 1937 in College Point, Long Island, NY, son of the late John and Irma (Schildwachter) Burkard and graduated from West Haven High School, Class of 1955. Arthur attended University of Hartford and raised his family and resided in West Hartford. Arthur worked at Whitnon Spindle for 25 years as a cost accountant and retired in 2008 from Nielsen Session. He was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows since 1967; Ansantawae #20 Encampment; and T.R. Martin #8 Patriarchs Militant I.O.O.F.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ann Burkard; two sons David Burkard of Mildford, Matthew Burkard of Peabody, MA; a daughter Ann Marie Cricco of Bristol; four grandchildren Elizabeth, Marc, Nicholas, Olivia; two great grandchildren James Peter, and Carter Arthur; a brother Clifford Burkard and his wife Jeannine of West Hartford; and a sister-in-law Marion of Branford. Arthur was predeceased by a brother Robert Burkard.

The Funeral Service will be on Thursday, March 10 at 12 noon at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9-12 prior to the funeral service. Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
