Dorothy Guthrie (Smith)
Dorothy S. Guthrie of Palm City, FL, formerly of West Hartford, CT, died Monday, January 9, 2017. Dorothy was born and raised in Hartford, daughter of the late Edward Joseph Smith and Fannie (Baxter) Smith. She resided in West Hartford for 50 years prior to moving to Florida in 1996. Dorothy worked at the former Connecticut Bank and Trust Co. in Hartford prior to her marriage, and later was a bookkeeper for the former Guthrie Mobil, West Hartford, owned by her husband. She attended St. John's Episcopal Church in West Hartford. Dorothy is survived by four sons, Bruce E. Guthrie, Stephen B. Guthrie, Robert C. Guthrie, and Brian D. Guthrie; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas F. Guthrie, Jr., to whom she was married for over 62 years prior to his death in 2008, and two sons, Alan B. and Richard Guthrie. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, from 10-11 a.m., at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Funeral Service, 11a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 679 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT 06119.
