Mariela  Gothers (Escobar)
Mariela (Escobar) Gothers, 82, of West Hartford, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016. She was born in Bogota, Colombia daughter of the late Tuta and Julio Escobar. She traveled to The United States after the death of her first husband Florencio Masmella, where she remarried, John Michael Gothers.
Mariela was employed with the State of Connecticut, Legislative Office, as Bilingual Secretary for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed her work, knitting, crocheting, and tending to her plants.

She is survived by her son Matt Gothers of West Hartford; her daughters, Anna Masmella of Cromwell and Martha Gothers of East Hampton; a brother Julio Escobar; a sister Ligia Camacho; four grandchildren, Sarah, Jesse, Jake and Ryan; and two great grandchildren Kayla, Charlese. Mariela was predeceased by her husband John Michael Gothers; a son Richard M. Gothers; and a sister Olga Escobar.

The Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, December 7, at 9:00 AM from the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford.
