Obituary for Emmy Meyer (Rasmussen)

Emmy (Rasmussen) Meyer, 96, formerly of West Hartford, died peacefully on June 27, 2016, at the Jerome Home in New Britain, CT. The third child of Meta Kirstine Jorgensen Vadstrup and Hans Soren Rasmussen, she was born on March 26, 1920, in Faurbo, Denmark. Emmy emigrated to the U.S. as a young child and grew up in West Hartford, graduating from Hall High School, Class of 1938.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband and childhood sweetheart Max Raymond Jacobsen Meyer in 1990. She and Max retired to Brooksville , FL, where Emmy enjoyed the warm sunny days and the company of good neighbors. In 2000, she returned to Connecticut to be closer to her family.

Emmy was a loving mother to her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Ken DalPian of Bloomfield, and to her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Carol (Simmons) Meyer of Raymond, NH. She was a grandmother to Sarah DalPian Jensen of West Hartford, Elizabeth DalPian Grigoriou of Suffield, Ryan Meyer and Jason Meyer both of Raymond, NH. Emmy looked forward to visits from her four beloved great grandchildren, Alexander Jensen of West Hartford and Michael, Benjamin and Hannah Grigoriou of Suffield, and she was always interested in hearing about all their activities. Emmy was predeceased by her sister Gerda Rasmussen Coppen of West Hartford and her brother William Rasmussen of New Britain.

She was an animal lover from an early age, enjoyed reading, keeping up on current events, following the Red Sox, and music.
