Obituary for Ytha G. (Rodrigue) Bolduc

Ytha G. (Rodrigue) Bolduc, 96, was born in St. Ludger, Quebec, Canada on April 6, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Telesphore and Cedenie Rodrigue.

She passed away peacefully on March 7, 2023 in Hartford, CT after a short illness. She married Alcide A. Bolduc on July 22, 1946. They followed a dream raising eight children in the Frog Hollow section of Hartford and later moved to West Hartford, CT. Ytha was a strong and hardworking woman that raised her children instilling the important values they needed to succeed in life.

Ytha and Alcide were very social and went to numerous events at the French Club in Hartford! Once her children had grown, she spent many years going on bus trips with her best girlfriends.

She loved to cook and her family got to enjoy her delicious chicken and mushroom dish weekly. She enjoyed sewing and made her children clothes in their younger years. She had a very successful seamstress business out of her home in West Hartford and retired when she turned 90!

Ytha was such a compassionate person. When she was in her 40s, she volunteered at the VA Hospital in Newington for 10 years, accumulating 1,811 hours of dedicated voluntary service.

When she was 80, she walked several 5K road races with a few of her daughters and always came in first place for her age group!

In her later years, Ytha loved to sing various French songs including La Vie en rose and Au Clair de la Lune. Since 2018, when a dear friend Ashly Cruz performed her cabaret shows at Brookdale and Avery, Ytha would sing La Vie en rose with Ashly and entertain the residents.

For the past year, her daughter Colette would take her to Yanni’s Restaurant in Newington for dinner on Friday’s and to sing Au Clair de la Lune to the patrons! Ytha had a gift of gab and just lit up when she got to sing and chat with them every Friday.

Ytha is survived by her loving children, Andre Bolduc, Suzanne Bolduc, Denise Bolduc, Laurette Luzusky and husband Lenny, Jean Paul Bolduc and wife Louise, Colette Bolduc, Janine Sirois and husband Denis, Monique Giese and husband Ben.

Her 12 grandchildren Betsy Reed, Chris Luzusky, Sandie Watts, Marissa Bolduc, Ryan Sirois, Alan Bolduc, Sara Eremita, Stephanie Sirois, Jessica Monahan, Jennifer Alvarez, Gary Bolduc, and Brittany Freyer brought her so much joy as she continued her journey in life without her husband when he passed in 1984. She has 17 adorable great grandchildren all of whom she cherished and loved to spoil. Ytha will long be remembered for her strength of character, generosity, and her deep love for her family.
