Obituary for Vita Maria Nardi

Vita Maria Nardi, 88, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on August 12, 2023. Born in Castelgrande, Italy, in the Province of Potenza, she later immigrated to Hartford, CT after marrying her one and only on January 3,1959. Vita was the daughter of the late Maria (Cristiano) and Gerardo Masi. She was a member of Mount Carmel St. Christina Society in East Hartford and a devout Catholic at St. Brigid Church in West Hartford for many years. Vita was the matriarch of her family, known for teaching traditions and her witty phrases. Throughout her life she found great joy in gardening and spreading her love through cooking. Her life was fulfilled by her faith, family, and friends. Vita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her late husband Gerardo Nardi, Sr.  She is survived by her four children: her son Nicholas Nardi and his wife Donna of Newington; her daughter Vittoria Little and her husband Steve of West Hartford; Maria Braverman and her husband Robert of West Simsbury; and son Gerardo Nardi, Jr. and his wife Leah of Newington; a sister Teresa Muro of Montreal; eight loving grandchildren: Nicole and Gina Nardi, Jeffrey and Joseph Kyle, Lauren and Sarah Braverman, and Vanessa and Nicholas Nardi; and her eight great-grandchildren with one on the way, along with many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Nardi was predeceased by her brothers Giuseppe, Carmine, Antonio, and Angelo. The family would like to extend a thank you to Starling Physicians Hematology, her team of doctors, and aid Moono for their amazing care.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 18, 2023, 9:15 a.m. from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church at St. Gianna Parish, West Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, CT. Friends and Family may call at the funeral home, Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
