He married his wife of 31 years on February 17, 1992. He came to the United States in August 1995 where they began their life together.

He was employed at Pratt and Whitney as an aviation mechanical engineer for 4 years before he moved to Manhattan to work for the NYCT MTA where he worked for 24 years up until his passing. He has been a proud resident of West Hartford, Connecticut for 24 years and was a leader among his church community at St. Thomas Church. Thomas, lovingly called Jimmichen by his friends and family, was an avid gardener, talented fisherman and ardent supporter of the Indian cricket team. He was well known in his workplace and community for his unyielding work ethic, infectious smile, and endless compassion for his fellow man.

He achieved success that no one from his background thought was possible through his confidence and persistence. He was a man of faith who lived out his faith everyday, providing a shining example of just how one man can do so much for so many. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
