Obituary for Theresa Ersilia Ganci (Ricciuti)

Theresa Ersilia Ganci, age 73 of Westbrook, dearly beloved wife of Emanuele A. Ganci, passed away on November 10th, 2022. Born on March 12th, 1949, in Hartford, to the late John Ricciuti and the late Phyllis (Bellizzi) Ricciuti; she was their only and very adored child. She was also predeceased by her grandparents, Loreto and Ersilia Ricciuti, and John and Theresa Bellizzi, and her godson, Jimmy Bellizzi. She was raised in Hartford and West Hartford. Theresa married her husband, Emanuele, on April 7th, 1990, and shared a devoted marriage of 32 years. Theresa and her husband lived in Newington for 28 years, where they were members of the Annunciation Parish. In 2018, they moved to Westbrook, where they enjoyed the pleasures and beauty of a seaside town. Theresa was a graduate of Northwest Catholic High School, Hartford Secretarial School, and was a retiree of UConn Health after 34 years of service as an Executive Assistant. Theresa was a former member of the Secretaries of CEO’s Council of the Connecticut Hospital Association and former board member of the Connecticut River Valley Girl Scout Council. She held memberships in the AFSCME and AFT unions, and was a current member of CSEA Retirees Council 400. Theresa was a cheerful woman with a kind heart, warm smile, and always enjoyed the simple things in life. She deeply loved her family and friends, along with her home, and being near the sea. Theresa was very close to her grandchildren and was honored to be part of their lives. She will always be remembered with love by her husband, Emanuele; her step-daughter Elizabeth Shilati and her husband Shahryar; her step-son Michael Ganci and his life-partner Alexandra Flores; grandchildren Dustin Ganci and wife Terra, Samantha Perez, Havyn, Brielle and Tyler Ganci, and great-grandson, Michael Edward Ganci. She also leaves her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and brother and sisters-in law, as well as her dear friends, Dana Ganci, Jodi Fyfe and Lori Fritzer, along with many other wonderful neighbors and friends.

Our sincerest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and caretakers that took great care of Theresa during her courageous battle. Theresa’s funeral services are private. Online condolences may be made at SheehanHilbornBreen.com
