Suzanne (Shay) Travers, 90, of West Hartford, daughter of the late Francis Leo Shay, MD and Helen (Butler) Shay, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024. Born in New Haven on September 2, 1933, Suzanne was a graduate of Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, Milford, CT, Albertus Magnus College, New Haven, CT and the Archdiocesan Biblical School, Hartford, CT.

Suzanne was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Howard Travers and by her sister, Elizabeth Dahill.

Suzanne is survived by her children: Katherine, of West Hartford, CT; John (Sandra) of Shrewsbury, MA; Jane (William) Richards, of Middletown, CT; Paul (Judy) of West Hartford, CT; Maura (Scott) Douglas of Germantown, WI; her ten grandchildren, Allison, Patrick and Sara Richards, Sean, Meghan and Devin Travers, Katie Goggins, Melissa Douglas, James and Michael Travers; her three great-grandchildren, Finn Goggins and Landyn and Remi Richards; her sister, Barbara Curran MacDonald of Madison, CT; and her brother, David Leo Shay of CA.

Suzanne was a Eucharistic Minister for many years at the Church of St. Timothy, West Hartford and in area nursing homes. For many years she was also a maker of Baptismal robes for babies. Her working years were happily spent in Hematology at St. Francis and Middlesex Hospitals.

Calling hours will be Friday, (March 1), from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, (March 2), 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 No. Main St., West Hartford. Burial will be private.
