Obituary for Steven Peter Vandermark

Steven Peter Vandermark, 72, of West Hartford, loving father, grandfather, brother, son and husband, passed away on July 28, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with COPD and cancer. He was born in Hartford on August 1, 1949 and was predeceased by his father, Cornelius Jacobus Vandermark, and his brother Philip Vandermark. His mother, Jacqueline Vandermark-Almquist lives in Rocky Hill. Steven was a graduate of Wethersfield High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Among others, he served in Upper Heyford, England and in Zweibruecken, Germany, where he met his wife Linda. After serving in the military, he worked for many years for the family-owned printing business, Vandermark-Blake Lithograph Company in Hartford, and later spent the rest of his work life in the field of lithography. His passion was photography and his life dedication his wife, children and grandchildren.

Steven leaves his steadfast and devoted wife of 52 years, Linda Vandermark of West Hartford; his brother Chuck Vandermark of Plymouth; and three sisters, Susan Vandermark of Gardner, MA, Cynthia Vandermark-Hoag of Berlin, and Elizabeth Vandermark-Huffman of Wethersfield. He also lovingly leaves his four children; Tracy Flint of South Glastonbury, Neil Vandermark of Bonn, Germany, Jason Vandermark of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Adam Vandermark of Plainville; his grandchildren, Emma, Kaity, Rebecca and Sophia Flint, Juliet and Mia Vandermark, and Audrey Vandermark, as well as family in the Netherlands and many friends and acquaintances. Our entire family is especially indebted and very grateful to the Hospice nurses, the nurses aid and the social worker for all of their wonderful care and compassion. 

In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcome to The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut. A memorial service will be held on September 10, 2022 at 10am at First Church of Christ, 250 Main Street, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
