Obituary for Sean Christopher Hosey

Sean Christopher Hosey, 57, of West Hartford, died unexpectedly after a brief illness on May 20, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born on December 23, 1965 to John Hosey and the late Ellen (Nell) Foley Hosey. One of four siblings, Sean is survived by his sister Noreen, brother Neil, and little sister Katie Hosey McCoy. He was the adoring father of two dear boys, John Oliver “Jack” Hosey and William Henry “Liam” Hosey and their mother Helenia Hosey, as well as the nephews and nieces that he cherished, Shane, Brendan, James, Ellie, Grace, Oliver, and Mary Kate.

Growing up in West Hartford, Sean was a proud Conard Chieftain. After graduating from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in Economics he began a very successful career in the metals and alloys industry. Where he traveled extensively and lead to him making his home in Bolton, England, Reading, PA, and Summerville, SC, before returning with his family to West Hartford. Sean had a love of travel, having been to too many countries to list. His favorite place was his parent’s homeland, where he was honored to keep their family connection to Ireland.

Sean was a gifted speaker and his presence was known when he entered the room. A wry smile and quick wit, he kept us all smiling and laughing, including the doctors and nurses. He enjoyed live music and always a song in his head introducing us all to new music. He had a knack for singing that one line of every song that ensured the rest of the song would be stuck in your head for days.

Sean will be remembered as a great father, loving son, sibling, and an entertaining uncle. He leaves behind many loyal friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, (June 1) at the Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford. There will be no calling hours and burial will be private. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
