Obituary for Sandra Gail Buyers (Carlson)
Sandra Gail Carlson Buyers, 77, of Newtown, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on the evening of January 18th, 2020 at Cheshire Regional Rehabilitation Center in Cheshire, Connecticut.
Sandra was born in Hartford, Connecticut to Dagmar Ackerman and Gustave A. Carlson in 1943. She grew up in West Hartford, CT and graduated from Conrad High School, Class of 1961. She retired from the Order of the Rainbow for Girls at the age of 20, and went on to graduate from Mount Ida Junior College in 1964.
Sandra lived and worked in New York City as a bookkeeper and secretary for many years. She was married twice before she found the love of her life, whom she married on December 29th, 1981 at Woodbury Methodist Church in Long Island, New York. After having twins in 1983, she made a life for herself in Newtown, Connecticut where she devoted her time to her family, the church, her love of gardening, and needlework.
Sandra is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, David R. Buyers, her brother Stuart B. Carlson, and her mother and father.
Sandra is survived by her eldest son, Eric Alexander (and his wife Elizabeth), her twins David C. and Katrina, and her two grandchildren, Rayne Alexander and Maximus Cucolo.
Sandra will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford, Connecticut, services are private. Arrangements are made by Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Hartford United Methodist Church.
