Obituary for Sandra Ann Connell

Sandra Ann Connell died at home peacefully surrounded by her family on February 15, 2023 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Berlin, New Hampshire to Henry Robert Johnson and Beatrice Cecile Aube, Sandy spent most of her early years in Connecticut; living in West Hartford, Hebron and South Windsor.  In 1992 she and her husband moved to Port Charlotte, FL where she resided until her death.

Sandy was a graduate of Buckley High School in Hartford, CT, and while still attending high school was hired by the Travelers Insurance Company where she enjoyed a long career lasting over 32 years.

She married the love of her life John (Jack) Connell on February 3, 1968 and cherished every year of their 55 years together.  As her husband likes to reminisce about the night they met; as Sandy was leaving a nightclub called Jim Cartys on the Berlin Turnpike, God took his hand to reach out to her and invite her out for coffee, and they have been together ever since.

Sandy was a devoted wife, a Loving big sister and a wonderful fur mom.  She made a house a home and enjoyed decorating for all the holidays.  She was an avid jig saw puzzler, a passion she shared with her sister.

Surviving are her husband John (Jack) Connell of Port Charlotte, FL, sister Debra Nawracaj of West Hartford, CT, step daughter Colleen Cote and Colleen’s sons, Jason and Matthew of New Britain, CT, her fur baby Chris and fur nephew Charlie.

Sandy was predeceased by her mother Beatrice Aube Nawracaj, step father John Nawracaj and fur babies Cindy, Holly, Candy and Kelly.

Calling hours will be Friday, February 24, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.  Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
