Obituary for Rosa Marinete Silva

Rosa Marinete Silva, 75, of Newington, beloved daughter of the late Manuel Rodrigues Da Silva and Maria Matos Da Silva of Estarreja, Portugal, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side on Monday, June 7, 2021 after a valiant and courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born on May 16, 1946 in Estarreja, Portugal and was a long time resident of Newington. Rosa worked around the clock as a single mother for many years to raise her two sons. She was a master seamstress and embroiderer, earning a diploma for her skilled achievements, which gained her notoriety in her communities.

When Rosa had free time, she enjoyed volunteering at Avery Heights nursing home, Our Lady of Fatima Church, and donating to countless charities aiding impoverished children around the world. Her will, dedication, and natural ability to nurture with her touch and infectious smile was also apparent in the way she brought life to her gardens and plants. Her compassionate nature was boundless, extending to anyone or anything in need. Rosa was a very loyal and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who was adored by all who met and knew her.

She will be profoundly missed by her two sons, Fern Silva of NYC; John Silva and wife Kerry of Fairfield; and her beloved grandchildren, Noah, Sophia, and Jackson Silva; a sister Lucinda Da Silva; many nieces and nephews; as well as her extended family members and many friends.

Funeral procession will be Friday, (June 11), 10:30 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford.
