Obituary for Robert F. Laramee

Robert F. Laramee, 87, of Manchester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. He is now reunited with his loving wife, Jean (Forand) Laramee. Born in Hartford on August 27, 1931, Bob was the only child of Donat and Gertrude (LaRue) Laramee.
He was raised and educated in Hartford before proudly serving in the Air Force where he was stationed at Otis Air Base in Cape Cod. He served his time and was married shortly after leaving active duty. He started a family and had 2 sons, William and Edward who were raised in Elmwood, CT.
Not having a high school or college degree never held Bob back and he progressed from working second shift in a shop running a printing press to a successful career selling business forms which enabled him to buy a house and move to Simsbury. Bob was very proud of his work ethic and resulting success.
He retired at age 60 and enjoyed his time golfing, boating and spending time with family and friends. He very much enjoyed holidays and other gatherings with his family and never missed a birthday for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His happiest days were during the time he spent with Jean boating out of Mystic, CT, until she became too ill to continue doing so.
Since Jean’s passing, Bob worked hard to keep himself occupied with many activities. His daily visits to Roma’s Pizza in East Hartford for lunch were a big part of his routine until he couldn’t drive anymore a short while ago. A special thanks goes out to all the waitresses there as they were all very nice to Bob.
He lived in Canton, CT for most of his time since Jean’s passing but moved to White Oaks in Manchester a couple of years ago to be closer to family. Another special thanks to all the great folks at White Oaks for making Bob’s time there so enjoyable.
Bob is predeceased by his wife, Jean Laramee, a son, Edward Laramee, and a grandson, Michael Laramee. He leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law, William and Susan Laramee of South Windsor, a daughter-in-law, Kathy Laramee of Southington, a sister-in-law, Diane Reynolds of Hobe Sound, Florida, sister-in-law Melanie Forand of Berlin, CT and 5 grandchildren, Christopher and Craig Laramee, both of South Windsor, Jill Feeney of Lincolnville, Maine, Jacqueline Laramee of Plainville, and Heather Kabel of Southington, along with 6 great-grandchildren. Bob would want to say that Sue was much more than a daughter-in-law to him since the passing of Jean. His relationship with Sue was more like a daughter and she cared for Bob like it was her Dad. He was very appreciative of everything she did for him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Brigid Church in Elmwood, CT on Monday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford, CT on Sunday, May 5th between the hours of 4:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. For online condolences and directions please visit, www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
Although he did a noble job of trying to enjoy life after the passing of his true love Jean 12 years ago, he was never really able to fill the void in his heart left by her passing. Bob will be missed by all that have known him but we find comfort knowing that he has now gone on to be with Jean again.
