Obituary for Robert “Bob” Ernest Paulson

Robert “Bob” Ernest Paulson, 97, of Southington, passed from this life on Friday, May 12, 2023. Born October 16, 1925, he was the son of the late Rolf Clark and Edna Mae (Post) Paulson of Groton, CT. Bob spent his childhood farming with his father and working his trap line. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the Army serving as a flying grease monkey during WWII. Upon his discharge, Bob returned to Connecticut to begin working as an Industrial Engineer. Over the years he dealt with a large number of manufacturing companies on government contracts. He spent many, many years going to night school to obtain his college degree from the University of Hartford.

In his 90’s Bob found pleasure in telling stories of his life. As a child he watched the Hindenburg fly over his yard in Groton on its way to New Jersey. He was very proud to have worked on contracts with Werner Von Braun and attended labor meetings across from Jimmy Hoffa.

Bob is survived by his daughter Joan Ellen Brodeur and her husband Richard of Southington, his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Eleanor Lillian Paulson and his son, Alan David Paulson.

The Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford has care of arrangements. Per Bob’s request, there will be no calling hours and the burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to Wreaths Across America.
